What's Happening in Boulder County!
There are Free Days happening all over the Denver Metro area every year thanks to the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District [SCFD]. There are many of your favorite museums and organizations that offer Free Days including: The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Art Museum, Denver Zoo, Denver Botanic Gardens, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art [BMoCA], Colorado Train Museum, and many more! Community Cycles is hosting a super fun and FREE Kids Bike Day. The day includes bike tune-ups and rodeo, bike safety instruction and repair demos, art and crafts, food, music, and much more. There will be prizes, a bike smoothie blender, and other cool stuff. Kids, bring your bikes for a spring tune-up, then come and ride the bike rodeo and have fun learning to ride over, under and around obstacles. Join Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center for their 12th annual Wild Earth Day today. This is a free event. Walk, ride your bike, ride the bus or carpool to Boulder County’s largest Earth Day event to be held at Central Park, Downtown Boulder. Hands on activities for the whole family! This weekend, May 4 & 5, plan to spend some time visiting East Boulder County artists in their studios. The event is free and open to the public. Boulder Beer offers free 45-minute tours of their brewery. Boulder Beer, which bills itself as Colorado’s first microbrewery, produces some popular beers including Hazed & Infused and Singletrack. Spring is the beginning of so many new things–garden planting, repairing buildings, bringing baby animals into the world– and that was true for ranch families in the Victorian days also. Join costumed volunteers at Walker Ranch homestead for a peek into pioneer living in springtime. Don’t throw your unused or outdated prescription drugs down the drain–they contaminate our water supply. So what should you do with them? Bring your unused, unwanted and outdated prescription drugs to the Walmart parking lot at 745 US Highway 287, Lafayette, CO 80026. They will be disposed of properly. More information here. Calling all families to come celebration Earth Day! Join Growing Gardens right here in Boulder to celebrate Earth Day, today! Gather at the Children’s Peace Garden to join in a fun, interactive celebration intended to connect children and families to fresh food, local honeybees and healthy bodies. That’s a lot to accomplish, but leave it to the Growing Gardens people to make it happen. This event is free. Children’s Peace Garden is located at 1630 Hawthorn, Boulder.

The Boulder History Museum is a gem here locally. If you have not been there, it has been a long time, or you just want to go back, this may be the right time since it is a FREE day.
