Join the folks at REI for an advanced class on using a GPS. The more we head outdoors–and summer is right around the corner–the more we need to ensure we can take care of ourselves and navigation essential. Knowing how to use a GPS can ensure you know where you are in the city of in the vast wilderness. This is a 2 hour class which includes computers and maps. You need to pre-register. What a deal! Looking for something fun to do on Monday nights? Head over the CU’s Connection in the UMC and put on some hip bowling shoes and get down to business. For $8 you get to bowl for 2 hours. Shoes and soda included. More information about bowling at CU here.

Calling all families to come celebration Earth Day! Join Growing Gardens right here in Boulder to celebrate Earth Day, today! Gather at the Children’s Peace Garden to join in a fun, interactive celebration intended to connect children and families to fresh food, local honeybees and healthy bodies. That’s a lot to accomplish, but leave it to the Growing Gardens people to make it happen. This event is free. Children’s Peace Garden is located at 1630 Hawthorn, Boulder.

Catherine Long Gates is the third generation manager of Long’s Gardens, a horticultural business founded in Boulder in 1905. A Boulder native, she grew up on the family farm located just one mile from the heart of the city. Operating a farm in the city has provided lots of opportunities for “career development” from field laborer, retail clerk, and general handywoman to iris judge, water negotiator, and urban agriculture watchdog. Complimentary wine and cheese will be served.
