Take a short hike and then listen to nature focused music on the grass at Chautauqua. This is a fun kid-friendly evening focused on children ages 2 – 8. Free event, but bring a blanket and a picnic. Open Space and Mountain Parks [OSMP] invites you to join them to hike the Upper McClintock trail and visit areas Flatironsaffected by the flood. OSMP will provide contemplative time to absorb the changes on the land, as well as a brief overview of these events from the perspective of natural geologic change. This is an easy hike, about 2 miles round trip with 400 feet of elevation gain. Meet at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage. No dogs please.

Bald-Mountain_Trail-to-the-Top-660x495Enjoy a night hike at Bald Mountain. The Bald Mountain Scenic Area which is 5 miles west of Boulder on Sunshine Canyon Drive. Join Boulder County volunteer naturalists for an evening of exploring Bald Mountain under cover of darkness. You will hike about one mile roundtrip on a moderately strenuous trail, enjoying the starlight, listening for night sounds, and learning about some of the nocturnal habits of the critters that live here. Bring water, closed-toe hiking shoes/boots, suitable clothing for the weather, a flashlight, and your night vision. All ages are welcome.  [August 13, 2013 . 8:30pm to 10:00pm]
