Heading To Chautauqua? Take The Park-to-Park Shuttle Ride On The Weekends This Summer!

What is there not to love about Chautauqua? Nothing! But parking has been a problem for this super popular park so Boulder has initiated a new program to help control traffic called Park-toPark.

What is Park to Park?

The Park to Park pilot program, which provides satellite parking and free shuttle service to and from Chautauqua, is part of the Chautauqua Access Management Plan (CAMP) project to explore ways to create a better visitor experience while reducing vehicular and parking impacts on neighbors and the area’s natural and cultural resources.

Shuttle Basics:

The temporary shuttle service, which runs every Saturday and Sunday from June 3 – August 27, is a convenient, stress-free way to access Chautauqua no matter how you travel – by foot, car, bike, skateboard or otherwise.

But before you go, some quick facts about the shuttle:

  • FREE: Ride to and from Chautauqua without breaking the bank
  • FAST: The shuttle runs every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • DOGS are welcome! And yes, there’s room for all your gear, too.

A Piece of Chautauqua’s Photographic History: A Presentation of Rocky Mountain Joe Tonight

Chautauqua is hosting a talk series including one on Boulder pioneer, “Rocky Mountain” Joe

“In Chautauqua’s early years, many visitors wandered over to the Woodbine photography studio and sat for their portrait. “Have your face tuck, 15 for 15 cts” read the sign on the building. Joseph Bevier Sturtevant was Chautauqua’s first official resident photographer. His alter ego, “Rocky Mountain” Joe, was a mountain man who supposedly had wild adventures as an Indian scout and Civil War soldier. Joe entertained the children at Chautauqua with tall tales around campfires, although what Joe said couldn’t possibly have been true. But his skill in photography was real and thanks to “Rocky Mountain” Joe, we have a documentation of the people and events of the first decade of the Colorado Chautauqua.”
