It’s hot out there! Want to beat the heat? Enjoy some of the most refreshing water we have in town along Boulder Creek! We are so lucky in Boulder to have the Boulder Creek running right through town. Hit some of the hot spots to go tubing, wading, swimming, kayaking, or just sit next to the water to enjoy the sights and sounds. To get the best access to Boulder Creek try Eben G. Fine Park at the West end of Arapahoe, park at the Boulder Public Library where you can walk right over to a beautiful shady spot near the creek, or find it anywhere along the bike path.
The Boulder Reservoir is one of the great water resources in our area. Enjoy a day at the beach, rent a stand up paddle board, get into a canoe, swim, or do it all! Bring a picnic or enjoy the concession stand. This is a popular destination so you won’t be alone. Bring the whole family! The Reservoir is open daily through the summer. The Erie Town Fair & Balloon Festival is today, May 18, 2013. This event includes a car show, hot air balloon launch, food, crafts, performances and live music by the band, The Nacho Men, and fireworks. Balloon launch: Colorado National Golf Course on May 18 & 19 at 6am. Fireworks: May 18 at 9:15pm at Coal Creek Park. Car Show: Historic Downtown Erie on May 18, 9 to 3pm. The weather has turned from winter to spring in a matter of days. Here is our first installment of Classic Boulder bike rides. This one is a Neva Road ride. The more we head outdoors–and summer is right around the corner–the more we need to ensure we can take care of ourselves and navigation essential. Knowing how to use a GPS can ensure you know where you are in the city of in the vast wilderness. This is a 2 hour class which includes computers and maps. You need to pre-register. Mount Sanitas is a classic Boulder hike. You can do it as a full hike where you go up one side and loop around to finish on the other. The other alternative is an out and back.
