The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is a Boulder classic! Each summer the outdoor stage at CU comes alive with Shakespeare and delights us with an incredible variety of plays. This year is not exception! Spend an evening under the stars, but you have to get your tickets soon!

Bring The Kids! Meadow Music Is Gearing Up For A Great Summer

Meadow Music is an award winning environmental education program offered for free in Boulder, Colorado. Summer of 2016 marks its 12th anniversary! Join Jeff & Paige for free concerts at Chautauqua. Meadow Music happens most Monday evenings in the summer from June-August.

This event is free to the public thanks to the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks Division!

Meet at 5:30pm to start a short hike that’s friendly to all ages – Map Here.  The hike takes about 30 minutes because of all the little legs that join it, but all ages should be able to accomplish the task. Along the way we’ll look for our color of the week and at the end our hike we’ll sing a song to bring out our animal of the week–Coyote Bob, Ranger Paula, or The Black Bear…

After the hike return to Chautauqua Green for a concert full of Jeff & Paige’s original nature and science-based music. The concert starts around 6:00pm and ends by about 7:00. Bring a blanket to sit on, a picnic and some silliness.

Colorado’s Population Is Seriously On The Rise!

This recent Denver Post article lays it out – our state’s population is seriously on the rise and outgrowing the rate of new housing.

“Colorado’s population rose by almost 102,000 people last year, but the state added only 25,143 new homes, condos and apartments to accommodate those newcomers, according to updated estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The division of those two numbers explains the multiplication of headaches for anyone trying to buy or rent a home along the northern Front Range: The average household size in Colorado is 2.5 people. That means the state should have added 40,500 housing units. Instead, it is running 15,000 homes short of where it should be, adding to a deficit that has been mounting since 2012…”

2016 East Boulder County Artists [EBCA] Studio Tour Is This Weekend!

Free Studio Tour and Sale. Tour Various Artists Studios in Longmont, Erie, Lafayette, and Louisville. Some artists will be demonstrating their techniques so tour goers can see them at work. Certain studios will have visiting artists so there will be more than one style of art or craft to view at these locations. Studio Tour map is available for download below.

Get Into The Past at the Spring Heritage Day at the Walker Ranch

Step back in time and you can experience homesteading as our ancestors did in the past. Just above Boulder you will find Walker Ranch, a well preserved slice of history. The Spring Heritage Day at Walker Ranch offers a glimps into the life of homesteaders in our area. Period dressed volunteers help you go back in time and truly get a sense of the richness of the homesteading experience. Enjoy exploring a ranch from the late 1800s. We’ll have special spring activities and crafts. For ranchers, spring was when the list of things to do seemed endless. See costumed volunteers demonstrate chores associated with rural living in the late 1800s such as blacksmithing or cooking on a wood stove. May 1, 2016 from 10am to 1pm.
