Got Downed Tree Limbs? City Of Boulder Curbside Collection Starts April 25, 2016

Screen Shot 2016-04-22 at 9.39.10 AM

This is straight from the City of Boulder’s website about the upcoming collection of downed tree limbs:

Citywide Curbside Collection of Downed Tree Limbs Begins April 25

Link to tree limb collection scheduleand map

Due to the extraordinary amount of tree limb damage caused by spring storms, the City of Boulder will conduct a special curbside collection program for downed limbs, beginning Monday, April 25, 2016, and concluding before Memorial Day.

Be advised that this weekend’s expected inclement weather may result in additional fallen tree limbs that will be included in the collection program.

Collection will be scheduled across the city by zone:

  • April 25 to 29: Zone 1 – Center section of the city, including houses on the north side of Baseline Rd. to the south side of Mapleton Ave.
  • May 2 to May 13: Zone 2 – North section of the city, including houses on the north side of Mapleton Ave. to the north city limits, including residential streets with blue signs in Gunbarrel.
  • May 16 to May 27: Zone 3 – South section of city, including houses on the south side of Baseline Rd. to the south city limits.

To Learn More

  • Click on the map pdf at left to view a larger version of the zones and schedule.
  • Call the Storm Debris Hotline at (303) 441-1856 with questions about the collection program and schedule.
  • Read Frequently Asked Questions pdf about the special curbeside collection program.

What You Can Do

  • Place your materials no more than one week in advance of the scheduled collection date. Place debris at the curbside, either against the curb or on the landscaping strip next to the street.
  • There are no requirements for sizing or bundling materials aside from piling and placing the material in the appropriate location.
  • Bike and pedestrian lanes and paths must be kept clear, and traffic flow should not be impeded. Because the city will sweep streets following the branch collection, try to park off street during the week your area is scheduled for collection to allow street sweepers to reach the curb line.
  • During the program, crews will collect tree limb debris only. In order to facilitate collection, other yard waste such as grass clippings or leaves should be placed in curbside compost collection containers.
  • Non‑organic materials including plastic bags and treated or painted lumber will NOT be picked up, because all organic material collected during this collection program will be composted.
  • Keep clearing snow along sidewalks and reaching out to neighbors who may need extra support.
  • Be careful! Exercise caution when encountering damage caused by a storm. Avoid downed or hanging utility lines, and be aware that as conditions change, and trees and tree branches are still falling all around Boulder. Be extremely careful not to stand under trees with a snow load until the snow has fallen or melted off of the tree.

City crews are currently working to remove hazardous hanging branches, tree limbs and other debris from public lands, roadways and other areas that may pose a public safety hazard. Residents and property owners are reminded that it is their responsibility to remove fallen branches and other debris from their own property.

Through the end of the special curbside collection program, the city will continue to waive drop-off fees for city residents who bring tree limbs to the Yard Waste Drop-off Center, located at 5880 Butte Mill Road. Proof of city residence, such as a utility bill, is required to have the fee waived.
