Boulder’s Winter Bike Week Is Just Around The Corner

Hey Boulder – It’s Almost Winter Bike Week! Boulder residents are encouraged to participate in Winter Bike Week from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29. This week-long event is a partnership between The City of Boulder, Boulder County, the Boulder Valley School District and the University of Colorado. The event is coordinated by Community Cycles.

Riders may register as individuals or as part of a team at to track bike trips and earn recognition and prizes. Registered riders will also enjoy free breakfasts and snacks along their routes.

The International Snow Sculpture Championships Are In Breckenridge

Be amazed! The caliber of the snow sculptures created at the International Snow Sculpture Championships is a sight to be seen. The whole family will enjoy this event! This iconic star watches over Boulder in the winter. Lit starting in November this can be a fun night hike! This moderate hike has two possible approaches. Each one is about 1.2 miles (one way) with roughly 900 feet of elevation gain. Cold temperatures and icy trails call for a little extra gear and preparation, but that’s just part of the fun.

Boulder’s Leftover Turkey Trot – Fun 5K Run For The Family!

Leftover Turkey Trot 5K

It’s the 2nd Annual Leftover Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk on November 28, 2015 from 10 – 11am. We’ll “stuff” ourselves on Thanksgiving Day not to mention chow down on the leftovers in the days to come – Oh the bloat! Come out for a run!

Once again, it’ll be time to get off the couch, grab the kids (and the relatives that have invaded your home) and join us the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a family 5K Run/Walk at Roger’s Grove Park in Longmont, Colorado. This 3.1 mile, timed run is sure to get your Leftover Turkey legs moving and gear you up for the rest of the weekend. There will be food and awards after the race if you want to stick around for a bit.

Natural Selections is the City of Boulder’s ongoing series of educational nature programs on topics including ecology, wildlife, local history, night hikes, children’s programs, plus many more. These programs happen year around and are free and open to the public.

Travel softly into this fragile haven with geologist Sue Hirschfeld and naturalist Lynne Sullivan. Meet at North Foothills Trailhead on Hwy 36. Going north out of Boulder, turn right (east) 0.4 miles after the intersection of N. Broadway and Hwy 36 (28th St), just south of the cement factory. Take the dirt road to the parking lot on your left. Thursday Oct. 1, 2015 from 8 – 10:30 am
