Winter Firefly Is Here! This weekend, December 10 & 11, 2016, you will find over 100 makers of all sorts selling their wares at the Autumn Firefly Handmade event in a heated tent at the 29th Street Mall in Boulder, CO. You won’t find anything mass produced here. Instead you will find your neighbors and other creative types selling their handmade arts, crafts and goods. It is worth a trip! Holiday sing-along performance led by the Boulder Children’s Chorale joined by members of the Boulder Chorale lead up to the grand illumination of the Boulder County Courthouse and the Pearl Street Mall, with a special appearance by Santa himself!  Then stick around for FREE visits with Santa until 7:00 p.m.

The Pearl Street Stampedes start at 7 p.m. in front of the Boulder County Court House on the 1300 block of Pearl Street. The Stampedes’ finales take place in the parking lot at 10th & Pearl streets. These events are FREE and fun for the whole family. This is a great opportunity to cheer on your favorite Buffaloes and listen to the traditional sounds of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band!

Searching For Pokemon On The Boulder Trails

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks is launching their own Pokemon expeditions for adults and families. Get outside and search for Pokemon via this guided hike in Boulder’s beautiful foothills. It sounds fun!

City of Boulder’s Pokémon Expeditions
Where are the Pokémon hiding on Boulder’s trails? Join Open Space Naturalists and Pokémon hunting guides Steve, Erick and Tyler on a hike to learn strategies to get the most of your augmented reality adventures. We are offering two programs – one especially for children, and one for adults.

Learn:

  • How Pokémon species relate to their real world counter parts.
  • Trail safety and bear, lion and snake etiquette.
  • The secret spawning ground of the Scyther.
  • Animal classification fun!
  • Where we commonly find the Vulpix.

Please bring:

  • A fully charged phone
  • Water (and snacks if needed.)
  • Hiking or walking shoes
  • Sunscreen

The Boulder County Farmer’s Market is still going on Wednesday evenings. We love the Saturday market too, but Weds nights are really special: less people, delicious food, great veggies and fruits, live music, food, & drink. Family-friendly event. It’s highly recommended! More information here.

Run! Run! Run! Hometown Festival’s 5K Walk is on September 5

The 7th Annual Hometown Festival 5K is happening on September 5, 2016. This is a featured event at the 18th Annual Boulder Creek Hometown Festival. The 5K walk will target families and individuals who are inspired be physically active while enjoying time together in beautiful downtown Boulder.

The 5K walk will begin at 9am on Monday, Sept. 5th, 2016 on the Boulder Municipal lawn and will be an out-and-back course on the Boulder Creek Path. Participants will gather and end at the Boulder Creek Hometown Fest Sports & Kids’ Expo, an event area on the Municipal Building lawn consisting of various organizations, services and equipment geared toward Boulder’s active, fitness-oriented community. There is a family and kid event.
