NCAR’s Community Art Program Presents the Work of 2 Photographers

ncarNCAR Community Art Program brings artists’ works to Boulder on a rotating basis. Enjoy the art show, the location, and the hands on exhibits. The exhibit is ongoing. NCAR is free and open to the public daily during business hours [8am to 5pm]. More detailed information here.

Cheryl Carter-Pierce is a photographer who spent three years on the coast of Maine for a photographic project called “First Light”. This series was mostly recorded in the pre-dawn light, rendering deep colors and striking patterns. Carter-Pierce’s work will be on exhibit in Gallery I of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

Norman Singer’s photography attempts to illustrate the commonality of the human spirit. Singer’s work will be on exhibit in Gallery II of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

The TEBO Train Is In Town! It’s A Summer Thing and Won’t Last Much Longer!

tebotrainThe TEBO train has spent the summer on the Pearl Street Mall delighting children and their families with free train rides. But this is the last week to enjoy the ride! Come take a ride Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00am to 11:15am on the corner of 12th & Pearl Street. If you have young kids this is not to be missed! The last day is August 29, 2013.

flickNfloat“Flick And Float” is a Boulder tradition! Head to Scott Carpenter Pool for an end of summer celebration. What do you get to do? Watch the movie E.T. while floating in the pool!  Family open swim will begin at 7 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.). $5/person or $20/family of 5.

The Bald Mountain Scenic Area which is 5 miles west of Boulder on Sunshine Canyon Drive. Join Boulder County volunteer naturalists for an evening of exploring Bald Mountain under cover of darkness. You will hike about one mile roundtrip on a moderately strenuous trail, enjoying the starlight, listening for night sounds, and learning about some of the nocturnal habits of the critters that live here. Bring water, closed-toe hiking shoes/boots, suitable clothing for the weather, a flashlight, and your night vision. All ages are welcome.  [August 13, 2013 . 8:30pm to 10:00pm]

Get Ready, Get Set, The Tulip Bulb Giveaway Is August 8th!

tulipsThe City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department’s annual tulip bulb giveaway will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall (in front of the Boulder County Courthouse). There will be 320 bags of tulip bulbs available, and the bulbs are given away first come, first served.

The 6th Annual History Mystery Challenge Is Just Around The Corner. Get Your Team Ready!

Screen Shot 2013-08-04 at 8.37.43 AMThe 6th Annual Boulder History Museum’s Adult Scavenger Hunt of Fun, Food and Mystery is right around the corner!  This year, History Mystery Challenge: ‘Downtown Beer’ Edition FUNdraiser brings you through Boulder’s bustling downtown for an evening of riddles, great food, refreshing libations, and much merriment! Teams of 2-6 participants will compete to see who can solve the most riddles about Boulder’s Downtown locales.

Plenty of food generously provided by Casa Alvarez and beer by Upslope Brewing Co. will be served before and after the Challenge.
