The kick off event is a reception at the Canyons Gallery at the Boulder Public Library on September 30, 2016 from 6 to 8pm. Studio tours are October 1 & 2 AND October 8 & 9, from noon to 6pm.

The Pearl Street Stampedes: Great family-friendly events to support the CU Buffs!

The Pearl Street Stampedes start at 7 p.m. in front of the Boulder County Court House on the 1300 block of Pearl Street. The Stampedes’ finales take place in the parking lot at 10th & Pearl streets. These events are FREE and fun for the whole family. This is a great opportunity to cheer on your favorite Buffaloes and listen to the traditional sounds of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band!

Meet the Spirits of Boulder’s Spooky Past at the Columbia Cemetery

Get The Scoop on Boulder’s Past at Historic Boulder’s Meet The Spirits Event
Sunday, October 16 – Noon until 5 pm – Columbia Cemetery
Join Historic Boulder to learn about Boulder’s history. Buried beneath the rocky soil of Boulder’s Columbia Cemetery are a multitude of stories from the lives of the residents interred there. From the famous to the infamous and the founders to the scoundrels; each has a unique and personal tale to tell. On October 16, 2016, a select group of “spirits” will share the stories of their lives with those who come to listen. Learn about the early days of Boulder, and the struggles faced as the pioneers established a foothold at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Uncover the secrets that were taken to the grave, and share the triumphs and tragedies of those who came before.  This biennial event brings the cemetery to life for just one afternoon.
Renew the acquaintance of more familiar residents like Dorothy Gay Howard, the unfortunate murder victim who was simply known for so long as Jane Doe, and ill-fated cowboy gunslinger, Tom Horn and hear unfamiliar stories as well. Listen to little 10-year old Rosa Peterman as she recounts her untimely death in the rushing waters of Boulder Creek, and enjoy a reenactment by The Buffalo Soldier Story as they honor fallen comrade Edward Baker whose gravesite was recently discovered. Observe reenactments of Masonic funerals, and find out about the practice of green burials, while children can take part in a scavenger hunt among the stones. For one day, the typically somber silence of the cemetery will be broken as the departed return from the grave.

Searching For Pokemon On The Boulder Trails

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks is launching their own Pokemon expeditions for adults and families. Get outside and search for Pokemon via this guided hike in Boulder’s beautiful foothills. It sounds fun!

City of Boulder’s Pokémon Expeditions
Where are the Pokémon hiding on Boulder’s trails? Join Open Space Naturalists and Pokémon hunting guides Steve, Erick and Tyler on a hike to learn strategies to get the most of your augmented reality adventures. We are offering two programs – one especially for children, and one for adults.

Learn:

  • How Pokémon species relate to their real world counter parts.
  • Trail safety and bear, lion and snake etiquette.
  • The secret spawning ground of the Scyther.
  • Animal classification fun!
  • Where we commonly find the Vulpix.

Please bring:

  • A fully charged phone
  • Water (and snacks if needed.)
  • Hiking or walking shoes
  • Sunscreen

Fashionistas from all walks of life will be heading to downtown Boulder to celebrate fashion with a full weekend of activities and events. FIF starts tonight at 6pm with a catwalk show featuring downtown Boulder retailers on the Pearl Street Mall for the kickoff fashion show extravaganza. The entire weekend is dedicated to downtown’s retail scene as individual boutiques host in-store special events Thursday night and throughout the weekend. From live music, food & drinks to mini makeovers and shopping, the weekend celebrates all of the best in clothing, shoes, accessories and more that downtown has to offer. Thursday – Sunday, September 22 – 25, 2016

Enjoy These Amazing Boulder Bike Trails!

In and around Boulder, over 50 miles of trails on Open Space and Mountain Parks are designated for use by bicyclists. Please remember that bikes may only be ridden on trails that are posted with the international bicycle symbol. Do not ride on trails that are posted as “no bikes” or that do not have a sign indicating bikes are allowed; bikes are not allowed to ride off-trail.

We all enjoy OSMP in different ways. Expect to encounter other visitors on trails. Be courteous and share the trail so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience. Watch this Trail Etiquette Video from Boulder Mountainbike Alliance and follow the tips below.

The Dog Dayz Of Summer Are Here! Is Fido Ready To Go For A Dip?

September is for the dogs in Boulder, Colorado! Dog Dayz are back at Scott Carpenter Pool starting September 19, 2016. Let your canine friend enjoy swimming when the City of Boulder turns into an aquatic dog park for two weeks. The pool closes for humans and the pool is open for dogs to enjoy.

Dog Dayz are a great way to spend a warm afternoon with your canine friend — your dog will be grateful for the chance to cool off and play with others. Admission is $5/dog or $40/up to 2 dogs for a Dog Dayz pass. Dog Dayz Dates: September 19 – October 2, 2016.
