We live in close proximity with these mysterious creatures. Are they gentle oversized kitties? Dangerous man-eaters? What should I do if I see one? Is my dog in danger? Are my kids in danger? Are there really more around Boulder in winter than summer? How can I tell a mountain lion from a bobcat or lynx? Learn all about our rarely seen neighbor, the Mountain Lion, with City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks naturalist Betty Naughton. Free event. REI Community Room (1789 28th St Boulder), 1/11 from 6:30 to 8:00pm.

Celebrate Winter: Story Time and Signs of Winter Children’s Hike
Story time with the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks is back at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage! Ring in the year with winter picture books. Children join in the fun with sound effects and the color of the week. Afterwards, if weather allows, you’ll take off for a kid-friendly hike. If it’s too cold to hike, we’ll explore the animals of the Ranger Cottage. Geared toward 3 to 6-year-olds. Wear warm clothes and bring water and a snack if you like. Free, 10:00 to 11:00am. Meet at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage. More information here.
