Super Science Saturday – Grab the whole family for this fun Boulder event!

Super Science Saturday is open to the public and welcomes science explorers of all ages!

Super Science Saturday is happening this year on November 7, 2015 from 10 am – 4 pm. This annual event at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) brings kids and adults together to explore hands-on activities, think about new ideas, and learn about science. This year’s theme is “LIGHT”!

Each Halloween, Downtown Boulder is invaded by thousands of tiny ghosts & goblins, dinosaurs & dragons, fairies & princes, super heroes and animals of every size, trick-or-treating along Pearl Street. 2 to 4pm, rain or shine on the Pearl Street Mall. Join the crew on October 31, 2015 for safe and fun trick-or-treating along the Mall. More information here.

Interactive Weather Related Activities For The Whole Family at NCAR

Boulder’s National Center for Atmospheric Research’s visitor center is open for guided and self-guided tours 363 days of the year. This iconic building sits atop a mesa overlooking Boulder. The site is beautiful and offers easy hiking options and the visitor’s center offers visitors interactive learning opportunities. NCAR is open for visitors on weekdays 8:00am to 4:00pm and on weekends 9:00am to 5:00pm. Guided tours are offered M/W/F 12:00 to 1:00pm, but if you would rather a self-guided tour you can take an cell phone MP3 tour anytime. Kids and adults alike enjoy this site!

Visualize The New Boulder Civic Area – Take a walking tour on 10/27

The Civic Area Team would like to invite the community to learn more about the current plans for the Civic Area by participating in a site tour on October 27, 2015.  One of the project managers will be facilitating a tour starting at the east entrance of the Canyon Gallery at the North Library and continuing through the Civic Area for approximately 45 minutes.  There are two opportunities available.

What :   Visualize the new Civic Area Walking Tour

When :  October 27, 2015 at Noon and 4:30 p.m.

Where :  Meet outside the entrance to the North (Canyon Gallery) Entrance of the Main Boulder Public Library

Who :  Open to the public! The free, outdoor tours around the Civic Area will be led by Boulder Civic Area Co-Project Leader Jeff Haley.  All tours will remain on sidewalks and are handicap accessible.

What happened to life on Earth after a six mile-wide asteroid landed near the Yucatan Peninsula approximately 66 million years ago?  Professor Karen Chin will describe trace fossil evidence for some of the earliest animal activity after the second largest mass extinction in Earth History. This CU lecture series is being held in conjunction with the Steps in Stone, Walking through Time exhibit, now showing at the CU Museum of Natural History.
