Oatmeal Festival: Good for the Heart and Stomach
This Saturday marks the 17th annual Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival. With a 5k walk/run, oatmeal baking contest and health fair, it’s sure to be a fun time.

Celebrate Winter: Story Time and Signs of Winter Children’s Hike
Story time with the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks is back at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage! Ring in the year with winter picture books. Children join in the fun with sound effects and the color of the week. Afterwards, if weather allows, you’ll take off for a kid-friendly hike. If it’s too cold to hike, we’ll explore the animals of the Ranger Cottage. Geared toward 3 to 6-year-olds. Wear warm clothes and bring water and a snack if you like. Free, 10:00 to 11:00am. Denver Children’s Museum Rings in the New Year
Ring in the New Year in style with the Children’s Museum of Denver on Dec 31, 2012. They have their own Times Square
with glitzy, glittery ball drops, rainbows of confetti, sparkly art projects and all kinds of energetic fun, families can enjoy New Year’s festivities all before bedtime.
The museum is open Noon Year’s Eve 9 am – 4 pm. The ball is dropping on the hour from 10 – 3.

Saturdays and Sundays throughout December bring us a fun time at the St Julien Hotel with their annual gingerbread tea series. Bring in the kiddos for gingerbread cookie decorating and enjoy some tea and holiday music too.
A portion of the proceeds go to There with Care and there will be a collection box for essential items for families in need.

Looking for indoor activities for the kiddos? Area public libraries have storytimes for any age child you have underfoot. Here’s a rundown:
Boulder Public Library: With three libraries, there’s a storytime going on every day of the week. Click here for a schedule. Fun fact: There are a couple of special story times they do each month: French~English, Spanish~English and a musical storytime.
Louisville Public Library: Most storytimes are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. All-ages also have a Saturday time. Click here for a schedule. Fun fact: there is a storytime in French on the first Friday of every month and a Jewish storytime series to learn about Jewish history and culture.
Lafayette Public Library: Storytimes are on Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays depending on your child’s age. Click here for a schedule. Fun fact: This week they have a series of holiday related stories and fun! They also list a bi-lingual (English~Spanish) storytime under special events.
