In 2010, the city had six times more high-tech start-ups per capita than the nation’s average, according to an August 2013 study by the Kauffman Foundation–and twice as many per capita as runner-up San Jose-Sunnyvale in California. This vibrantculture has given Boulder a prosperous economy: Without the help of oil, natural gas, or any monolithic industry, Boulder County (population 300,000) ranks among the top 20 most productive metro areas in terms of GDP. Unemployment is 5.4 percent–almost two points below the national average and a full point below the Federal Reserve’s goal for the nation. Scott Carpenter Park: This is a mellow, fun slope for the kids, but adults enjoy it too!

Tantra Park [Just South of 46th and Hanover]: This sledding hill can get incredibly packed and at places it is steep.

Foothills Community Park: There are some great, low angle slopes here for kids and adults.

Don’t Miss Bike Art at The Dairy!

Boulder is a bike town. No doubt. Now, Bike Art at the Dairy! returns through January 17, 2014 to feed our souls. From nearly 500 submitted works of art, they’ve selected 134 pieces by 94 artists from as far away as Hawaii and Alaska. Some of these artists have also provided miniature works, perfect for holiday gift-giving. Come check out the exhibit during open hours. More information here.

Learn More Than You Can Even Imagine About Boulder History Aboard The Banjo Billy Bus
