A collection of vintage phonographs are on display at the Louisville Public Library. Tonight the collector will be on site to chat about phonographs and the items he has on exhibit! Stop by and ask questions, bring a picture of your phonograph, or whatever! If you ask, he will even play a record on one of the displayed talking machines for you! Hosea Rosenberg has been an instrumental part of Boulder’s restaurant revolution. He earned national fame as the winner of the fifth season of “Top Chef,” Bravo’s cooking competition television show. Join the CU Art Museum for the opening reception for their newest exhibit, From Cherry Blossoms to Snow Gardens. This is an amazing exhibit featuring woodblock prints by famed ukiyo-e masters of the 19th century including Utagawa Hiroshige, Utagawa Kunisada, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Katsushika Hokusai. These artists documented the everyday life of Edo (present day Tokyo) through vibrant images of landscape, travel, commerce, and leisure. Louisville’s Royal Ball Father/Daughter Valentine’s Day Dance is just around the corner
The Louisville Royal Ball Valentine’s Day Father/Daughter Dance is happening this year on February 9, 2013. This magical afternoon for fathers and daughters [ages 3 to 8] is held at the Louisville Arts Center (801 Grant St.) from 12:30 to 1:30pm. The event includes a tiara for each young lady, dancing to a live DJ, crafts, light refreshments and many smiles. Formal to semi-formal attire encouraged. Cost: $10/person. Must register here.

Movie: Chasing Ice at the Boulder Theater
If you have never seen a movie at the Boulder Theater you are in for a treat! The Boulder Theater is better known for live music, but they also show movies on occasion. Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Within months of that first trip to Iceland, the photographer conceived the boldest expedition of his life: The Extreme Ice Survey. With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.

Winter/Spring Boulder Public Library Cinema Program Is Upon Us!
I don’t know about you, but when the days get shorter and colder I start to think about heading to the movies. Just when I am getting antsy to see some great cinema the winter/spring 2013 season of the Boulder Public Library Cinema Program is upon us. This artsy film series runs from January 7th through April 15th on most Monday and Thursday evenings in the Canyon Theater. The Boulder Public Library’s Cinema Programming fills a special niche in the community providing cogent and coherent thematic programming for Boulder’s intelligent and diverse community. Free admission. 6:30pm unless otherwise indicated. All movies are at the Main Library Canyon Theater at 1000 Canyon Blvd., Boulder.
