Boulder Youth Give New Meaning To Recycle In Recycled Runway!

Recycled Runway is a fashion show with a twist. Students in grades 6-12 create and wear original garments from a variety of day-to-day items. All the profits raised at Recycled Runway will aid the Boulder area Blue Sky Ridge – a child and family advocacy center. This is a one of a kind event and supports Boulder youth in so many ways! Recycled Runway is happening on Tuesday, April 12th at the Boulder Theater. $10 General Admission tickets are available online at Boulder Theater.

Scott Carpenter Park: This is a mellow, fun slope for the kids, but adults enjoy it too!

Tantra Park [Just South of 46th and Hanover]: This sledding hill can get incredibly packed and at places it is steep.

Foothills Community Park: There are some great, low angle slopes here for kids and adults.

The BoaBoa Festival Brings West African Dance to Boulder

Boulder’s BaoBao Festival’s mission is to entertain, educate and build community in Colorado through artistic performances inspiredScreen Shot 2014-02-28 at 9.59.09 PM by West African tradition and culture. Over the past ten years BaoBao Festival has brought local, national, and international performers to Colorado for a celebration of Africa’s age-old community theater experience of gathering under the baobab tree.  The Festival is an exciting celebration that weaves together West African singing, storytelling, drumming and dance. This is a fun and educational festival happening through March 12, 2016.

CU’s Museum of Natural History Rocks!

The University of Colorado Museum of Natural History is an academic unit of the Graduate School at the University of Colorado at Boulder with a mission to contribute to knowledge of the natural world and the humanities through research, teaching, and public education. The Museum’s collectionsnumber more than four million objects in anthropology/archaeology, botany, entomology, paleontology, vertebrates and invertebrates.

The University of Colorado Museum offers a wide variety of K-12 and adult educational programs and activities throughout the year, including lectures, family days, and guided tours. The exhibition galleries are open to the public seven days a week, free of charge. The Museum and Field Studies Graduate Program offers students an opportunity to earn a Master of Science degree or a certificate in Museum Studies.

Wolves! A Presentation of the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks is offering a very informative and popular presentation WOLVES!

On Friday, January 9, 2016 from 6:30 to 8pm, join Education and Outreach Coordinator Jean Koszalka for a slide show presentation to learn about wolves and their reintroduction into the Yellowstone area in the 90’s.  We’ll look at their physical characteristics, discuss some of  the myths about wolves, and we will learn why they are an important member of the Yellowstone ecosystem. This program is free, but limited to 40 people. We’ll send you the meeting location with your reservation confirmation.

Super Science Saturday is happening this year on November 7, 2015 from 10 am – 4 pm. This annual event at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) brings kids and adults together to explore hands-on activities, think about new ideas, and learn about science. This year’s theme is “LIGHT”!
