Movie: Chasing Ice at the Boulder Theater

Chasing Ice ImageIf you have never seen a movie at the Boulder Theater you are in for a treat! The Boulder Theater is better known for live music, but they also show movies on occasion. Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Within months of that first trip to Iceland, the photographer conceived the boldest expedition of his life: The Extreme Ice Survey. With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.

This movie is showing at the Boulder Theater on 1/9 & 1/10. $10 general admission tickets. Rated PG-13. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8:30pm. Purchase tickets at the Boulder TheaterĀ here.

Just when I am getting antsy to see some great cinema the winter/spring 2013Ā season of the Boulder Public Library Cinema Program is upon us. This artsy film series runs from January 7thĀ throughĀ April 15thĀ on most MondayĀ and Thursday evenings in the Canyon Theater. Ā The Boulder Public Library’s Cinema ProgrammingĀ fills a special niche in the community providing cogent and coherent thematic programming for Boulder’s intelligent and diverse community. Free admission. 6:30pm unless otherwise indicated. All movies are at theĀ Main Library Canyon Theater atĀ 1000 Canyon Blvd., Boulder.

Celebrate Winter: Story Time and Signs of Winter Children’s Hike

OSMP just-for-kidsStory time with the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks is back at theĀ Chautauqua Ranger Cottage! Ring in the year with winter picture books. Children join in the fun with sound effects and the color of the week. Afterwards, if weather allows, you’ll take off for a kid-friendly hike. If itā€™s too cold to hike, weā€™ll explore the animals of the Ranger Cottage. Geared toward 3 to 6-year-olds. Wear warm clothes and bring water and a snack if you like. Free, 10:00 to 11:00am.
