Open Space & Mountain Parks is taking you and your dog to explore Boulder’s changing landscape post September 2013 floods. The naturalist guided hike includes time to learn about the ecology and geology of our changing scenery. This is an easy hike. It’s black bear season! Join Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks Ranger Brian Litwin on October 5, 2014 on a moderate hike to learn what bears are up to this time of year. Are they dangerous? How do I know if one is close by? If there is one in my yard, can’t it just be relocated somewhere else? Why is a bird feeder also a bear killer? Learn all about these fascinating animals, including what motivates them, what we can learn from them, and how to behave around them. It’s already started! September 15, 2014 starts Dog Dayz at Scott Carpenter Pool. This is the time when the City of Boulder turns into an aquatic dog park for two weeks. The pool closes for human usage and we open up the water for dogs to enjoy. The Dog Dayz event has been running strong for nearly a decade! It is a great way to spend a warm afternoon with your best friend — your dog (or dogs) will be grateful for the chance to cool off and play with others. More info on Dog Dayz right here.

The Boulder Public Library offers tons of events and activities for families! One of those is their weekly Creekwalk Storytime. If you have young children [5 and under] then take an hour to walk along the creek and hear delightful stories. Start at the main library in the children’s area – 10:15 to 11:00am.
