The Pearl Street Mile Is A Classic Boulder Race!

The Pearl Street Mile is a Boulder classic. This year’s race will be the 19th annual running of the mile through downtown Boulder, with runners of all ages and abilities starting and finishing in the heart of downtown Boulder. This is a true community event with Olympians and local world class athletes toeing the same line as 6-year olds, their grandparents, and everyone in between.

Race Schedule

Tuesday, August 9

  • 4:00PM – 6:00PM Packet pick-up at Flatirons Running Inc, 629 S. Broadway St

Wednesday, August 10

  • 4:30PM – 6:00PM – Race day registration
  • 4:30PM – 6:45PM – Packet pick-up
  • 6:00PM – Kids 1/2 mile
  • 6:30PM – Open Men’s and Women’s race
  • 7:00PM – Elite Women
  • 7:15PM – Elite Men

Race Registration

  • $20/25, kids $15

In-store and online registration closes at noon on Wednesday, August 10th. If you would like to pick up your packet on Tuesday, you must register in-store or online by noon Tuesday, or wait and register at the store between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

Tour the Visitor’s Center at NCAR [National Center for Atmospheric Research]

Boulder’s National Center for Atmospheric Research’s visitor center is open for guided and self-guided tours 363 days of the year. This iconic building sits atop a mesa overlooking Boulder. The site is beautiful and offers easy hiking options and the visitor’s center offers visitors interactive learning opportunities. NCAR is open for visitors on weekdays 8:00am to 4:00pm and on weekends 9:00am to 5:00pm. Guided tours are offered M/W/F 12:00 to 1:00pm, but if you would rather a self-guided tour you can take an cell phone MP3 tour anytime. Kids and adults alike enjoy this site!

Boulder Secures A Top Spot On Livability’s Top 100 Best Place To Live!

Boulder is not new to being at the top of the list. This year Livability placed Boulder #5 on it’s Top 100 Best Places To Live list. This is what they said about Boulder:

“Known as one of the best cities for liberals, Boulder spoils its 100,300 residents with pristine natural surroundings, a strong farm-to-table restaurant scene, and dynamic arts and cultural attractions. Each season brings more things to do in Boulder. Many of the city’s highly active residents plan their days around hikes, rock climbing, mountain biking and fishing. Boulder Is Building Community One Block Party At A Time!

For your next Boulder block party, consider reserving the neighborhood block party trailer from the City of Boulder.

The trailer is available for any Boulder resident to reserve — though it must be used for a neighborhood party, which means everyone within some geographic area (you define your neighborhood) must be invited. If you reserve the trailer, it is yours for a weekend ­­— city staff will drop it off to the requested location on Friday afternoon and pick it back up on Monday morning. The idea is that you only have to add food, drink and neighbors — everything else is contained within the trailer for you, making a block party easy and fun.

All permitting requirements still apply with use of the trailer. You will need a block party permit if you are planning to close the street. Type III barricades (required for street closure) are included in the trailer, available at no cost to the host.

Depending on where you plan to utilize the trailer, you will need to follow one of these three processes. You must indicate which process, based on place and use, that you will follow, when you reserve the trailer. Reservation of the trailer itself does not initiate these processes for you.

All Aboard the TEBO Train!

tebotrain“All Aboard!”  Calling all kiddos, enjoy a free ride on Pearl Street Mall’s one-and-only Tebo Train! Children ages 10 and under (and accompanying adults) will chug along the beautiful Pearl Street Mall on the only set of wheels permitted “on the bricks”!  The Tebo Train runs Mondays – Thursdays from May 28 – August 29, 2016. Board the train between 10 – 11:15 am in front of Wells Frago Bank at the corner of 12th and Pearl Street. More information on this fun summer event – here.
