Storytime!

Looking for indoor activities for the kiddos?  Area public libraries have storytimes for any age child you have underfoot.  Here’s a rundown:

Boulder Public Library: With three libraries, there’s a storytime going on every day of the week.  Click here for a schedule.  Fun fact: There are a couple of special story times they do each month: French~English, Spanish~English and a musical storytime.

 

Louisville Public Library:  Most storytimes are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. All-ages also have a Saturday time.  Click here for a schedule.  Fun fact: there is a storytime in French on the first Friday of every month and a Jewish storytime series to learn about Jewish history and culture.

Lafayette Public Library: Storytimes are on Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays depending on your child’s age. Click here for a schedule.  Fun fact: This week they have a series of holiday related stories and fun! They also list a bi-lingual (English~Spanish) storytime under special events.

Winter Break Camps

images-32Winter break for the kiddos is right around the corner. Keeping them occupied can drive a busy parent crazy!  Luckily, many area recreation centers have programs to help out.  Here are a few to check out:

Boulder Parks and Rec offer School Day off Camps Jan 2, 3, 4 & 7

YMCA of Boulder Valley offers camps in Boulder and Louisville Dec 26-28 and Jan 2-4

Harmony’s A.C.T. in Lafayette has a variety of kids art classes going on.

The Bob L. Burger Recreation Center  in Lafayette is offering they’r usual variety of Winter Break fun for all ages. Give them a call for more info:  303-665-0469

Bike Giveaway!

Every child should have a bike, don’t you think?  Community Cycles is giving away 300 bikes and helmets to needy kids for the holiday season, December 16th, 2012, 9am-1pm.

If your family is all stocked up on bikes, you can sponsor a bike and a helmet for the holidays for as little as $25 for a child or $100 for a family.

You can also help out by volunteering your time or your old bikes!  Bikes (child or adult) may be dropped off at Community Cycles noon- 6 any day of the week except Wed. Donated bikes will not be accepted at the event on Dec 16th.

Holiday Market at BMOCA

Firefly HandmadeFirefly Handmade is hosting a holiday market this weekend at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.

The event takes place December 14-16th (Fri 6pm-10pm, Sat 11am-6pm, Sun 11am-6pm) with 70+ artisans. There’s even a self-serve wrapping station so you can wrap your gift in the perfect package.   Buy green, buy handmade, buy local!

Eldora is Open!

With all of the warm weather we’ve been having, you may not have noticed that ski season is upon us!  Boulder favorite Eldora has been making snow for weeks and now has a 27 inch base.  Along with skiing, snowboarding and Nordic, they have lessons for kids and adults, racing and a freestyle terrain park.

Menorah Lighting on Pearl Street Mall

We are in the midst of Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights. Boulder celebrates in style with a Menorah Lighting on Pearl Street Mall on December 11, 2012, 5:30pm on the 1300 block of Pearl Street (in front of the Courthouse).
