Wildflower Hike

It’s a great time of year to see wildflowers while hiking.  Boulder Open Space offers this awesome hike:

Wildflowers of Goshawk Ridge
Sun June 3, 8 am – 12 pm
Fri June 8, 4 – 8 pm

The Goshawk Ridge trail winds through one of the most beautiful and pristine parts of OSMP. Its pine forests and lush, wet meadows are thick with wildflowers and a haven for wildlife. Explore this new trail with naturalist Dave Sutherland. Due to sensitivity of the habitat, space is limited to 15. Please call 303-441-3440 for reservation and meeting point.  4 miles, 700’ elevation gain.

Lafayette Farmer’s Market

Ahhh.  We love farmer’s market season throughout the front range – fresh greens, herbs, cut flowers, kids running around and live music. Lafayette Farmer’s Market is one of the finest in the area.  They’ve moved to a new location this year with more vendors and more parking.

When: Thursdays through Oct 11, 2012. 3:30pm-dusk

Taste of Louisville and Half Marathon

Taste? Did somebody say taste? Louisville is hosting their annual marathon and food faire this Saturday, June 2, 2o12. Events of the day include half marathon, 5k and kids run in the morning. When you are done running, stroll down Main Street and taste some great food from local restaurants, listen to good music and hang out with your neighbors!

Louisville Farmers Market Swings into the Season

Louisville Farmers Market features Colorado grown organic and pesticide-free vegetables and fruits, organic European breads, honey, eggs, breakfast burritos, natural and organic beef, coffee, Colorado wines, pastries,  … and more!

When: Every Saturday 8 am – 1 pm from June 2 – October 13.

Boulder Celebrates Kids in Parks!

Saturday May 19, 2012 is National Kids to Parks Day, a day that  encourages children and their families to get outdoors and explore local parks in their communities.

Water will be provided, but please bring your own water bottle to help reduce waste.

Park Cleanup Day May 19

Boulder’s Tenth Annual Community Cleanup Day

Saturday, May 19 (Register by May 16)
8:30 – 11:30 a. m.

Help us clean up Boulder by removing trash and recyclables, planting trees and pulling weeds from parks and greenways. You pick the location and on-site project leaders will provide direction and supplies.

 

Join us for a free ice cream social at one of three locations (Scott Carpenter Park, Harlow Platts Park, or Valmont Bike Park) after you’re finished cleaning in appreciation of your contribution. All participants will receive a one-day pass to the Boulder Reservoir and be entered into a prize drawing.

Wildflowers of Boulder County

Join volunteer naturalists for a spectacular slideshow of wildflowers on May 15 2012, 7-8:30pm at the Louisville Public Library.  You’ll learn about many varieties of wildflowers found in Boulder County, where and when to look for them and some interesting facts about some of our native plants.

Great Source for Local Produce

If you didn’t make it to the Boulder Farmers Market on Wednesday, there’s still a great place in Boulder to find local produce, 24/7.

The Boulder Family Farm Stand  has fresh produce and plants for purchase at their self-service stand at 1005 Cherryvale Rd.  Check it their Facebook page for updates on what’s available.  This week they are featuring strawberry plants and fresh salad greens!
