In our hunt for summer fun for the kiddos, we found more than enough for everyone at Wow Children’s Museum in Lafayette.

Current exhibits include: Bubbles, pirates, puppets and a special exhibit on Sunsational Energy and Science! From art to science, it’s all fun!

SummerSkate!

When was the last time you went roller skating? It’s making a come back and the 29th Street Mall has a place for you to practice your twists and turns!

It’s located in the same place as WinterSkate – near Laudisios.  Featuring skate rentals, group discount rates, lessons and concessions.  It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the summer season!

FAC Concerts – Free!

Join friends at Millennium Harvest House for a fun-filled series of FREE concerts at their FAC (Friday Afternoon Club). Year after year, music lovers swell The Gardens. All summer long, folks are welcomed to eat, drink, and be merry while sampling Boulder’s best local bands.

Enjoy the natural beauty of The Gardens, food and drink specials, a lively mix of classic favorites, local talent, and VIP seating. Meet our wonderful community partners and alliances. Bring friends, bring family… bring Fido! Notorious FAC kicks off June 1st and plays through August 10th for a total of 11 Friday Afternoon Club concerts.

Art Night Out in Lafayette!

The City of Lafayette continues their 2012 Art Night Out series. Art Night Out runs from 4 to 9 pm on the third Friday of the month throughout the summer in Downtown Lafayette.  Each Night Out features artists, an art walk, children’s activities (including a balloon twister, magician and face painters), the Oskar Blues Bonewagon food truck and a beer garden.

Bands will play at Festival Plaza in Old Town Lafayatte from 7:30 to 9 pm.  Here’s the lineup:

Downtown Boulder’s infamous Bands on the Bricks is back for the 2012 season with an awesome lineup:

The outdoor beer/wine/margarita garden starting at 5:30 p.m. with bands playing from 7-9pm on the 1300 block of Pearl. From oldies to alternative and everything in between Bands on the Bricks is Boulder County’s premiere outdoor summer concert series taking place in the heart of the city on the bricks of the one-and-only Pearl Street Mall.  A not-to-be-missed summer tradition with 10 weeks of free concerts. Enjoy performances from the best local musicians along the front range while dancing under the stars.

Cycling Events

Whether you ride for fun or fitness, have a road bike or mountain bike, the Boulder County area has a ride for you!  Community Cycles lists events that are going on all summer long.

There’s the Seniors on Bikes that ride every Wednesday and Friday morning, Valmont Bike Park Family Rides, bicycle maintenance clinics and more. Really – something for everyone!  Thinking big? Try the B-360, a self guided 23 mile tour of Boulder.  Fun!

Wildflower Hike

It’s a great time of year to see wildflowers while hiking.  Boulder Open Space offers this awesome hike:

Wildflowers of Goshawk Ridge
Sun June 3, 8 am – 12 pm
Fri June 8, 4 – 8 pm

The Goshawk Ridge trail winds through one of the most beautiful and pristine parts of OSMP. Its pine forests and lush, wet meadows are thick with wildflowers and a haven for wildlife. Explore this new trail with naturalist Dave Sutherland. Due to sensitivity of the habitat, space is limited to 15. Please call 303-441-3440 for reservation and meeting point.  4 miles, 700’ elevation gain.
