The City of Lafayette will be accepting your old electronics for recycling on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9am-2pm.
This is open to all Boulder, Broomfield and Weld County Residents at the City of Lafayette Service Center: 1700 Avalon Avenue, Lafayette, CO 80026
Recycling Fees:
Monitors/TV’s up to 20″: $10
Monitors/TV’s larger than 20″: $18
Small appliances/electronic items/laptops/desktops: $2 each
No charge for keyboards, mice, cords, cell phones, PDAs, Ipods, handheld devices
Materials will be securely recycled by Metech Recycling a certified e-Stewards recycler. Over 95% of materials will be recycled for remanufacture.
Lafayette Quest is geared towards kids with the goal of encouraging healthy and fun activity! Teams of 2-4 will strategize their way through a traditional scavenger hunt by following clues, participating in healthy challenges, and utilizing smart phone technology. Teams will check in at activity/checkpoint stations and perform silly human tricks to receive clues to get them to the next station. QR codes hold the secret to extra points and additional clues. Prizes will be awarded to teams who finish first, accumulate the most points, and wear the best uniforms/costumes.
The Quest is this Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9-11am starting and ending at the Bob L Burger Recreation Center. The registration fee is $20 per person with 100% of the proceeds going to youth scholarships at the rec center.

The City of Lafayette hosts their final 2012 Art Night Out of the season on May 21. Art Night Out runs from 4 to 9 pm on the third Friday of the month throughout the summer in Downtown Lafayette. Each Night Out features artists, an art walk, children’s activities (including a balloon twister, magician and face painters), the Oskar Blues Bonewagon food truck and a beer garden.
This week’s band is Girls on Top, which will play at Festival Plaza in Old Town Lafayatte from 7:30 to 9 pm.
Wow – it’s time to think about Halloween already! Lafayette Old Town Association (LOTA) and downtown merchants are hosting the 2nd Annual Halloween Window Painting Contest.
Exterior business windows along Public Road and E Simpson Street will be turned into canvases for kids to paint Halloween, Día de los Muertos or fall scenes during the day on Oct. 13. (Rain date is Oct. 20.) Professional artists from pARTiculars will help with the project and provide judges for the paintings. Winning participants will receive certificates and awards.

The City of Lafayette is working with Xcel Energy to reduce energy costs for both the city and up to 25 low-income Lafayette households. Applications will be accepted through Sept 30 on the City of Lafayette website.
The two solar gardens which will generate one megawatt of electricity. It’s ideal for those who don’t have the location or space for their own solar array!
Applicants can anticipate up to a 50% discount off existing monthly Xcel bills. This savings will continue as long as the recipient resides at the address, and can be transferred to a future address within the Xcel service area.
Boulder Housing Partners, which offers over 2000 affordable housing options, hopes to be the nation’s first net-zero energy and zero-waste housing authority.
