Electronics Recycling

The City of Lafayette will be accepting your old electronics for recycling on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9am-2pm.

This is open to all Boulder, Broomfield and Weld County Residents at the City of Lafayette Service Center: 1700 Avalon Avenue, Lafayette, CO 80026

 

Recycling Fees:

Monitors/TV’s up to 20″:  $10

Monitors/TV’s larger than 20″: $18

Small appliances/electronic items/laptops/desktops:  $2 each

No charge for keyboards, mice, cords, cell phones, PDAs, Ipods, handheld devices

Materials will be securely recycled by Metech Recycling a certified e-Stewards recycler.  Over 95% of materials will be recycled for remanufacture.

If you haven’t been to a Tedx event, it’s a really fun and informative way to spend an evening.  You’ll listen to talks on all sorts of diverse topics. Past topics have included school lunches, minimalism and conscious growth.

Scott Carpenter Park Re-dedication

Ever wondered who Scott Carpenter is?  You know his park at 30th & Arapahoe. He’s an astronaut!  He was the second American to orbit the earth in Mercury 7.  He’ll be here on September 20, 2012 for the 50th anniversary of his historic space flight.

The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department will host a park re-dedication of Scott Carpenter Park with Commander Carpenter in attendance at 4 p.m. on the 20th.

 Boulder Green Streets returns this Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 10am-4pm. This year there are 2 main centers for activity, the North Boulder Rec Center and the East End of Pearl St. and you can walk or ride your bike on a 3  mile car-free route between the two locations.

Valmont Dog Park Reopens!

Grab that leash and take Fido out for a romp at the Valmont Dog Park today.  It’s open again with great new features for dogs like new fencing, surfacing, landscaping and water hydrants.  A portion of the new park includes an enclosed, irrigated turf area, low berms, a new 16-foot square shade shelter, and two smaller shelters.

The park is located at 5275 Valmont Road.
