National Kids to Parks Day is May 21, 2016 – Wondering What To Do?

National Kids to Parks Day is a great reminder to get our kids outside – especially into wild spaces. The City of Boulder’s Open Space & Mountain Parks will be celebrating both International Migratory Bird Day and National Kids to Parks Day on May 21, 2016 from 9am to 2pm.

You are invited to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day and  National Kids to Parks Day by visiting a local wetland. Open Space and Mountain Parks is partnering with Environment for the Americas and other local organizations and business in Boulder to present a one-of-a-kind nature event. We’ll have education stations along a trail that teach participants of all ages about birds, how to use binoculars, insects, plants, and much more. Activities are interactive, and the day’s special events will include a raptor demonstration and guided bird walks. Get involved in conservation by donating to the Open Space native plant nursery to grow the wildflowers, willows, and cottonwoods that provide food and shelter for our local birds and other wildlife.

The event is free, but your donation supports habitat restoration for birds and other wildlife in the Boulder area. In the past 5 years, your contributions have purchased thousands of dollars in trees, shrubs, and wildflowers that are planted on Open Space lands in Boulder County for the benefit of birds and other wildlife.
