Get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with a high energy Irish dance performance by the McTeggart Irish Dancers. The dancers’ talent and energy is pleasing to audiences of all ages! This special performance is included with regular Museum admission to WOW! Children’s Museum.

The Boulder Public Library offers a program where kids can sign up to read to a calm therapy dog. Kids love it! They sign up ahead of time, bring a book [or get one at the library] and spend some time reading to their new canine friend. Free at the Meadows Branch Library. Children in grades 2-5 are invited to join Lamya’a Dawud who is back again to teach art classes about some of our favorite children’s books. Grandrabbits, an amazing independent toy store in Boulder, is hosting Play Days. Every Tuesday children ages 2 to 7 are invited to play at the store. There is always a new theme and the play days are free. 11:00 to 11:45am. For more information on Grandrabbits Play Days click here.
There are some great sledding hills in Boulder! Check out these locations for some of the best sledding around:
Scott Carpenter Park: This is a mellow, fun slope for the kids, but adults enjoy it too!
Tantra Park [Just South of 46th and Hanover]: This sledding hill can get incredibly packed and at places it is steep.
Foothills Community Park: There are some great, low angle slopes here for kids and adults.
Parents and kids are encouraged to get engaged at Discovery Days. This early childhood program at the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center encourages children ages 2 to 5 and their parents/caregivers to engage together in educational, hands-on art activities. Through social interaction and inspiring experiences, this program is a place where play and learning connect. Most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 9:00am. Boulder’s National Center for Atmospheric Research’s visitor center is open for guided and self-guided tours 363 days of the year. This iconic building sits atop a mesa overlooking Boulder. The site is beautiful and offers easy hiking options and the visitor’s center offers visitors interactive learning opportunities. NCAR is open for visitors on weekdays 8:00am to 4:00pm and on weekends 9:00am to 5:00pm. Guided tours are offered M/W/F 12:00 to 1:00pm, but if you would rather a self-guided tour you can take an cell phone MP3 tour anytime. Kids and adults alike enjoy this site! The Louisville Royal Ball Valentine’s Day Father/Daughter Dance is happening this year on February 9, 2013. This magical afternoon for fathers and daughters [ages 3 to 8] is held at the Louisville Arts Center (801 Grant St.) from 12:30 to 1:30pm. The event includes a tiara for each young lady, dancing to a live DJ, crafts, light refreshments and many smiles. Formal to semi-formal attire encouraged. Cost: $10/person. Must register here.
Laurie Berkner is a world renowned children’s recording artist. Join her February 2nd for a rock’n good time as she brings her eclectic children’s music to Boulder. Laurie Berkner is worth taking the kids to see. Best for the younger kid set. Show is this Saturday, February 2, 2013. Doors open at 12:30pm. Cost is $25 to $50. Get tickets here.
We are lucky in Boulder that we have Celestial Seasonings right in our backyard. You probably already know the teas are delicious! But did you know their factory is open for tours? They offer 45 minute tours seven days a week, every hour, on the hour. No need to make a reservation [except during holidays]. Tour hours: Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday, 11:00am to 3:00pm. The tours are family friendly, so bring the kids!
